Finding Halloween Decorations on a Budget

Low Cost, Budget Options For Halloween Decorations

Halloween is our Mom's favorite holiday,  filled with plenty of excitement for kids and adults alike. For just one night, you can cast off your identity and become whoever you want to be. One thing you should know about Halloween is that finding great decorations for your home doesn't have to break the bank.

Taking the time and hunting down deals and money saving alternatives will go a long way toward keeping a balanced budget in a time where so many holidays are back to back. Thinking outside the box when it comes to saving money is a great way to keep your expenses low this year.

Find Great Deals at Closeout Stores
A great place to get deals on Halloween decorations is closeout stores, these stores provide quality products at a fraction of the price you might find them at retail stores or online.

We Got These For $1.00 each at "Deals" yesterday...

The key to shopping closeout stores is to get the deals early before they've all been picked through by other early bird shoppers. Stores and many other shoppers are thinking about Halloween and planning their stock accordingly sometimes even as often as September or late August, so you can never really be too early when it comes to planning ahead and finding great deals!

Pharmacy Stores
Another great location for low priced Halloween decorations is pharmacy stores right before the holiday. If you're willing to wait for your decorations, they often have the best sales around, and you may even be able to use a pharmacy card to get an even better discount. You can find even more amazing deals right after Halloween (or any other holiday for that matter!) when stores are getting rid of stock they can't sell regularly anymore.. When stores are trying to shuffle merchandise off of their shelves and out of their back rooms to make room for the next holiday or season, you can swoop in and save big.

Second Hand Stores, Thrift Stores & Consignment Shops
Another thing you may want to consider is searching second hand stores as well as yard sales and garage sales for items you can use in your Halloween decorations. These locations are great because they're the first stops for people trying to get rid of decorations or other types of things that are cluttering up their homes, attics, and garages. You might even be lucky enough to find people getting rid of new or like new items for pennies on the dollar because they simply don't want them anymore. You can even find items that aren't meant for Halloween, but with a little seasonal spicing up will look great in your home or yard. The best part is that, unlike stores, you can often haggle and negotiate the price of items at garage sales and thrift stores because they don't have a set price.

Homemade Items...
When it comes to finding great Halloween costumes don’t overlook the possibility of using home made items. Using your imagination and some craft supplies, you can come up with excellent decorations that will be fun for your family to make and can easily last for years. Let the kids help out with the project and can end up with some amazing decorations that will become a tradition to put up in your home. They can even make great gifts for other family members and friends! Don't let a budget bring you down this holiday, strike early and in the right spots and your budget will hardly be a limit at all!

Buy Online...
We're doing a "Haunted Pirate Cove" in our front yard this year... Mom and Dad are even making a 'River Styx,' lining it with bones, and a pirate ship to sail it.  We're building the pirate ship from a wooden pallett  (you can find these for free at dozens of local businesses, and check Craigslist too...) and so far we've got the flag for $1.00 at Deals.  We've got a list of items we'll be buying from Amazon too...

HALLOWEEN HANGING BATS - 3 Piece Set

$8.00

Zombie Arm Lawn Stakes (2pcs) Prop Decoration
$11.80

Halloween Outdoor Decoration Talking Rising from the Grave Reaper  $24.95

Interactive Skeleton in Hammock spooky Halloween decoration sound-activated  $27.50

There are tons of other cool Halloween decorations for the front yard on Amazon, but Mom said we needed to keep the budget to under $150.00.  So far, these are our top picks... but we still have several more pages to go through.

My brother's published some 'tips' for online shopping on his blog... Click Here To Read Ordering Halloween Decorations Online.

And no Halloween yard is complete without the headstones.. but we saw those at Deals yesterday for $3.00 each... Mom said we need to check the other 'dollar stores' first, then go back there if we can't find them for $1.00.
